The Federal Ministry of Education is the primary government institution that manages the education sector in Nigeria at the federal level. It is headed by the Minister of Education who is assisted by various constituent units under the ministry called departments, units and parastatals.

These federal agencies largely stand as regulatory bodies for whichever aspect of the education sector they cover. In a few cases, the roles of some are separate, yet interwoven. However, they were established by the Nigerian government to provide opportunities for education to all citizens.
