Lagos State University (LASU) and the Federal University of Science and Technology Epe (FUSTECH) have jointly dismissed claims that the LASU Epe Campus has been converted into the newly established federal university.

In a joint press release, both institutions described the circulating notice as false and misleading, urging the public to disregard it.

LASU Epe Campus Remains Intact

The universities clarified that the Epe campus remains a fully operational arm of LASU, hosting key academic units that are the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, the School of Agriculture, the Pre-Degree Studies Programme and the Sandwich Degree Programme.

The statement emphasised that academic and research activities at the campus continue uninterrupted under LASU’s administration.

FUSTECH’s Temporary Use of Facilities

According to the statement, Federal University of Science and Technology Epe is a newly established institution currently using some LASU facilities on an interim basis.

This arrangement, the universities explained, is part of a collaborative effort to support FUSTECH’s take-off pending its relocation to a permanent site.

Both institutions stressed that despite the temporary sharing of infrastructure, they maintain separate identities, governance structures, and academic operations.

“Each institution retains its distinct identity… This arrangement will continue pending FUSTECH’s relocation to its permanent site.”

Public Advised to Ignore False Information

The management of both universities called on prospective students, parents, and stakeholders to rely only on official communications.

They warned that misinformation could mislead candidates and disrupt admission decisions.

This clarification highlights a recurring issue in Nigeria’s higher education space where some misinterpretation of institutional collaborations occur. While resource-sharing is not uncommon, clear communication remains essential to prevent confusion among admission seekers and the general public.
