The University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) Governing Council has approved the appointment of Mrs. Islamiya Abdulraheem as the institution’s acting registrar.

Her appointment, decided at the council’s 71st Extraordinary Meeting on November 5, 2024, will be effective from November 12, following the completion of Malam Yahaya Mohammed’s five-year tenure.

This makes her the first female official on such a role.

Mrs. Abdulraheem, a seasoned administrator, previously served as Deputy Registrar overseeing the Vice Chancellor’s Office and Deputy Registrar of Establishment.

Her extensive experience in university administration is expected to support the university’s smooth operations until a substantive registrar is appointed.

The announcement, released by Dr. Habib Yakoob, Acting Director of Information and University Relations, expressed confidence in Mrs. Abdulraheem’s capability to uphold the administrative standards of the institution in her new role.
