Kano govt sacks school principal over abuse of office

Kano State government has ordered the removal of Sabo Muhammad Ahmad, Principal of GSS Dambatta over abuse of office.

Commissioner of Education, said the sack was specifically over his inability to retain the 300 students writing NECO Examinations in his school despite the Circular released to all Principals and Directors to that effect.

He directed the Executive Secretary, Kano State Senior Secondary Schools Management Board to send his replacement with immediate effect.

The sacked principal is also ordered to report to the Ministry of Education on Monday for further directive.

According to a Statement made available by the Chief Public Relations Officer of the Ministry, Comrade Aliyu Yusuf, the action was, “as a result of Malam Sabo’s inability to retain the 300 students writing NECO Examinations in his school despite the Circular released to all Principals/ Directors to that effect.”

The Statement signed on behalf of the Commissioner, further stated that, “but he reluctantly released all the students and also left the school to his home town possibly for sallah break without informing the Ministry.

“This action is a portrayal of laxity, betrayal of trust reposed in him, insubordination and gross misconduct.

“It is to be recall that Kano State Government has directed all boarding schools to retain in school, their students writing NECO Examinations with adequate and special feeding arrangements including purchase of 19 cows as a special gesture for Sallah.”
