The Governing Council of Tai Solarin Federal University of Education has appointed Samuel Ekundayo Oladipo as the new Vice-Chancellor of the institution.
The appointment, confirmed in a statement by the university’s Registrar, Dapo Oke, positions Oladipo as the sixth substantive Vice-Chancellor, with effect from May 5, 2026.
Announcing the decision, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Rahamon Bello, described Oladipo’s emergence as merit-driven, citing “doggedness and an unwavering dedication to the university’s founding ethos.”
Oladipo, a Professor of Social Psychology, is a foundation staff member of the institution, having joined in 1999 when it was Tai Solarin College of Education before its transition to a university in 2005. He attained professorial rank in 2014.
Over the years, he has held several strategic academic and administrative positions within the university, including Chairman of the University Result Vetting Board and pioneer Director of the Directorate of Research and External Relations. He also served as pioneer Dean of the College of Specialised and Professional Education, among other roles.
His academic exposure includes a sabbatical appointment at Adekunle Ajasin University and a postdoctoral fellowship at North-West University, where he conducted research between 2013 and 2015.
With over 70 scholarly articles, multiple edited volumes, and contributions to academic and non-academic literature, Oladipo’s research spans areas such as mental health, help-seeking behaviour, gender-based violence, and child protection. He recently completed a TETFund-supported study focused on developing counselling interventions for survivors of child sexual abuse in Nigeria.
A member of several professional bodies, including the American Psychological Association and the Psychological Association of Nigeria, Oladipo is also noted for his engagement in teaching, research, and community development.
His appointment comes at a time when stakeholders continue to emphasise leadership stability and academic innovation in Nigeria’s teacher education universities.
