YABATECH bans students bringing babies to lecture rooms, hostels

The Yaba College of Technology, Lagos State, popularly known as YABATECH, has banned students of the college from bringing their babies to halls of residence and lecture rooms.

This was contained in a circular released by the school registrar adding that any student found breaching the new regulations may face up to suspension for one semester.

The circular also stated that wearing of face caps, face masks, dark glasses, tight clothing, and other indecent clothing was prohibited.

The circular obtained on Friday, titled, “BOARD DECISION ON REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON INDECENT DRESSING/POSTURE AND APPROPRIATE SANCTIONS” read, “The Academic Board at its meeting of Tuesday, November 8, 2022 considered the Report of Committee on Indecent Dressing/Posture and Appropriate Sanctions

“The Board resolved as follows: “Backless Cloth, First offender – Advice, Second offender – Warning, Third offender One-semester suspension.

“Bump Short, Short Skirt, Short, Dress, First offender – Advice, Second offender – Warning. Third offender one-semester suspension.

“Sagging, First offender Advice, Second offender – Warning, Third offender One-semester suspension. Crazy Hairstyle, Artificial, Dreadlocks, Hair plating, First offender – Advice, Second offender – Warning.

“Weaving or Braiding for Third offender – one-semester suspension males

“Wearing of Fez/Face Cap, First offender – Advice, Second offender – Warning, Third offender – one-semester suspension.”

“Bringing babies to the hostel/classroom First offender – Ejection from the hostel and advice. Second offender – Warning. Third offender – one-semester suspension,” the statement added in part.
