A nongovernmental organisation, Science Ambassadors Foundation (SAF) is organising a week-long training for science teachers in Lagos.
The organisation’s Country Director, Peace Nnabugwu told EduCeleb.com in an interview on Wednesday that the programme was meant to “promote consciousness in the use of instructional materials in the sciences”.
It will also help Lagos State science teachers with enhanced skills on the construction and use of improvised materials for practical science subject teaching.
“This is in a bid to stare up scientific interest amongst the youths in the application of scientific knowledge to the improvement of our society especially the indigent students with the use of everyday tools by training their trainers,” Nnabugwu disclosed to EduCeleb.com.
The training is being organised with the support of Teachers Establishment and Pensions Office (TEPO) of the Lagos State Government in partnership with Home Edutainment Network, and the Faculty of Science, University of Lagos (UNILAG).
Nnabugwu acknowledged the foresight of the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode and his Officers towards revamping science education in the State and that of the Dean, Faculty of Science, UNILAG for accepting to partner on this training.
It will hold 9am-3pm daily between 6th and 10th November, 2017 at E303/304, Faculty of Science, UNILAG. Attendance to the programme is free of charge.
Dignitaries expected at the occasion include seasoned teachers and school administrators.
