Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has announced Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, a seasoned soil scientist, as its pioneer Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Strategic Partnerships, Research, Innovation, and Linkages (DVC, SPRIL).
With nearly 30 years of experience in teaching, research, and administration across Nigerian and international institutions, Prof. Ogunwole is set to bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the new role.
Throughout his distinguished career, Prof. Ogunwole has earned several prestigious fellowships, including the J. William Fulbright Scholarship at Pennsylvania State University and the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship at the University of Hannover, where he conducted research on soil carbon dynamics.
His global research journey includes a postdoctoral fellowship at India’s Central Salt & Marine Chemicals Research Institute, a TWAS Associateship Programme at the International Water Management Institute in Ethiopia, and several consultancies on dryland farming and water management across Africa.
In addition to his academic and research pursuits, Prof. Ogunwole has contributed significantly to sustainable natural resource management through roles with international bodies such as the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) in Mali and the United Nations University – Institute for Natural Resources in Africa (UNU-INRA) in Ghana.
As FUOYE’s first DVC of Strategic Partnerships, Research, Innovation, and Linkages, Prof. Ogunwole is expected to leverage his extensive experience and global network to foster impactful collaborations, advance research initiatives, and drive innovative solutions at FUOYE.
His appointment is anticipated to strengthen FUOYE’s position in academic and research excellence both within Nigeria and on the global stage.
