The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Bauchi State Wing, has formally petitioned the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI) Kaduna, Bauchi State Office, demanding the immediate release of Degree and Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) certificates for teachers who graduated from the institution approximately seven to eight years ago but are yet to receive their certificates.
In a letter dated July 30, 2026, and signed by the State Secretary, Comrade Musa G. Ali, the union expressed grave concern over the prolonged delay, which it said has left affected members without documentary proof of their academic qualifications.
The letter, seen by EduCeleb.com on Monday with reference number NUT/BSW/30/VOL.3/103, was addressed to the State Coordinator of NTI Kaduna, Bauchi State Office.
Statement of Results Expired, Certificates Still Missing
The NUT highlighted a critical policy issue in its correspondence: in Nigeria, a statement of result from any institution expires after four years from the date of issuance and must be replaced by the actual certificate to authenticate a student’s qualification.
“Without these certificates, there will be no evidence of where they graduated from let alone ask for conversation or even try to further their education,” the letter stated.
The union warned that the continued withholding of the certificates carries serious implications for the affected teachers’ career progression and professional standing.
Union’s Appeal
Describing the matter as one of “gravity,” the NUT Bauchi State Wing urged the NTI to expedite the release of the certificates to “avoid further implication” for the teachers involved.
The letter was endorsed by the union’s leadership, including State Chairman Comrade Aminu Nabalinga Aliyu, State Secretary Comrade Musa G. Ali, and State Treasurer Comrade Dan’azumi Yakubu.
