A Nigerian professor, Isa Marte Husseini, has won the International Institute for Training, Research and Economic Development (IITRED) Research Award for his research breakthrough in cancer.
The professor is of Department of Pharmacology at the University of Maiduguri, Northeast Nigeria.
In a mail made available to EduCeleb.com, IITRED declared that Marte’s research innovation on anti-cancer herbal drug had won the research prize for the year 2018 in the category of medical research.
The award will be conferred on the multiple award winning professor during an award session holding at Sheraton Hotel in Abuja on 15th November.
Professor Marte is also expected to be conferred fellowship of the institute during the event which he would also present findings from his research work.
His research is a daring attempt to solve one of the leading causes of death worldwide and the most dangerous medical condition this generation has seen, cancer, through herbal medicines.
The professor, whose students had nicknamed Hope-for-cancer, commenced his investigation in 2010, and this has reached an advanced stage with reassuring prospects.
