The National Universities Commission (NUC) has released the list of Nigerian universities eligible to offer postgraduate education.

A bulletin from the NUC dated 14th May, 2018 indicated that only the below listed universities have the basic requirements to run various postgraduate programmes.

The NUC as the regulatory body for the approval of programmes in degree awarding Nigerian tertiary institutions has been able to give each of the listed universities accreditation to run part or full postgraduate programmes.

“Employers of labour, educational institutions and other stakeholders are to note that only certificates issued by these universities for their approved programmes, are valid for employment, further studies and other purposes,” the commission said.

According to the bulletin, Nigeria has 162 universities: 41 are federal, 47 are state owned while 74 are privately owned institutions.
