LAUTECH starts Mass Communication, five other degree programmes

The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) has taken a significant step forward in expanding its academic offerings with the introduction of six new degree programs. This development is part of the university’s strategic plan to enhance academic excellence and meet the changing needs of students and society.

The new programmes, which have undergone resource verification, are:

– Psychology: This program will equip students with a deep understanding of human behavior and mental processes, preparing them for careers in counseling, research, and healthcare.

– Mass Communication: This program will train students in the art and science of communication, enabling them to excel in journalism, public relations, advertising, and broadcasting.

– Linguistics: This program will explore the structure, evolution, and usage of languages, preparing students for careers in language teaching, speech therapy, and language consulting.

– Yoruba: This program will delve into the language, culture, and literature of the Yoruba people, promoting cultural heritage and understanding.

– Theatre Arts: This program will cultivate creativity and performance skills, preparing students for careers in acting, directing, playwriting, and stage management.

– Political Science: This program will examine the theory and practice of politics, governance, and public policy, preparing students for careers in government, diplomacy, and public service.

Additionally, a Faculty of Law has been established to offer a degree program in law, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of legal principles, practices, and ethics.

Acting Vice Chancellor Prof Razaq Kalilu made the announcement during the 16th convocation ceremony, highlighting the university’s commitment to fulfilling its mandate and the vision of its Visitor, Governor Seyi Makinde. He emphasized that the new programs will enhance the university’s academic outlook and provide students with a wider range of career options.

Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof Ayodeji Omole, charged the graduands to be good ambassadors for the university, carrying the torch of learning with pride and upholding the values of knowledge, integrity, excellence, service, and progress. He encouraged them to apply their skills and knowledge to make a positive impact in their communities and the world at large.

The introduction of these new programs demonstrates LAUTECH’s dedication to academic innovation and excellence, providing students with a world-class education that prepares them for success in an increasingly complex and interconnected world.
