Jigawa mass education agency spends N98 million in 2020

The executive secretary of the Jigawa State Agency for Mass Education, Dr Abbas Abubakar said over N98 million has so far been expended by the agency.

Abbas made this known while enumerating the achievements of the agency in the year.

He said the agency had attained 95 percent of 2020 budget implementation thereby increasing the mass literacy level from 44 to 59.30 percent this year.

The executive secretary said over 20,000 adults benefitted from remedial classes, while another 10,000 participated in continue education program within the same period.

Abbas further announced that over 35,000 attended various adult literacy programs while not less than 2,000 women were also trained and empowered on various skills across the state.

The Executive Secretary added that the agency in collaboration with federal university Dutse and Jigawa Forum had established centers for adult literacy classes across the state while Governor Badaru Abubakar and the five Emirs each established a literacy center.

According to him the agency will expand its programme to drivers and Okada riders next year.
