The Borno Ministry of Education has begun ‘Learn at Home Programme’ for students preparing for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
This is as the lockdown to prevent the spread of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) nationwide persists.
A statement by the Commissioner for Education, Bello Ayuba said the programme is through the media involving radio and television stations in the state as well as social media.
Mr Ayuba explained that the programme involved selected teachers, who would teach for 45 minutes per lesson.
He said subjects to be taught from Monday to Friday include Mathematics, English, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Religion, Economics and Civic Education.
The commissioner added that the subjects would be taught via broadcast stations like NTA Maiduguri, Borno Radio/Television, Dandal Kura Radio and Peace FM.
Earlier, some eight other state governments have separately introduced educational programmes through the mass media for students resident in each state to get engaged while staying at home as a result of the lockdown.
In another development, EduCeleb.com reported that the Federal Ministry of Education had denied some reports that a day was fixed for the resumption of schools across Nigeria. The ministry described such reports as false.
Nigeria now has about 440 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since its first outbreak in the country late February.
