AFTRA president commends EduCeleb for promoting education, teacher development

Professor Josiah Ajiboye, the President of the Africa Federation of Teaching Regulatory Authorities (AFTRA) has praised EduCeleb for its significant contributions to education reportage and teacher development in Nigeria.

In a recent episode of The Education Podcast hosted by Abdussalam Amoo, Ajiboye acknowledged EduCeleb’s efforts, particularly during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Let me appreciate EduCeleb for what you have been doing with regards to the reportage of issues of education and also about the issue of teachers,” Ajiboye said.

The university don who doubles as the Registrar and Chief Executive of the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) was on the podcast to discuss efforts at regulating the teaching profession in Nigeria and Africa.

He highlighted the platform’s role in covering the activities of the TRCN and supporting the education sector through innovative approaches.

“We really want to thank you. We want to also appreciate what you did especially during the COVID period. To be able to navigate that period was very, very difficult and your organization was part of the group that actually introduced the idea of using digital modes in and propagating the use of digital modes of learning and teaching within that period.”

Ajiboye emphasised the impact of EduCeleb’s initiatives on the teaching profession in Nigeria.

He noted that the organisation’s efforts in promoting digital literacy and online learning were crucial during the pandemic and have continued to influence the education system positively.

“Since after that, Nigerian teachers have now realized the importance of the use of technology and that’s why today, a majority of Nigerian teachers are trying to catch up,” he remarked.

Ajiboye’s commendation of EduCeleb underscores the platform’s pivotal role in advancing educational standards and supporting teacher development in Nigeria.
