UNILORIN expels six students, rusticates six others over misconduct

The University of Ilorin has expelled six students and placed another six on rustication for one academic session over various acts of misconduct, following recommendations by the Students’ Disciplinary Committee (SDC).

The disciplinary actions were approved at the 227th meeting of the committee held on Thursday, 9 October 2025. Letters conveying the decisions to the affected students were issued by the University and copies were obtained on Monday, 22 December 2025.

According to the letters, the six students expelled from the University are Abdulhafeez Abdulhammed of the Department of Educational Technology, Faculty of Education; Esther Ajuma Matthew and Divine Tijesunimi Stanislous, both of the Department of Human Kinetics, Faculty of Education; Qozeem Abdulateef Mohammed of the Centre for Open and Distance Learning; Sormidat Oluwatosin Lawal of the Department of Health Education, Faculty of Education; and Doris Comfort Falusi of the Department of History and International Studies, Faculty of Arts.

The expelled students have been directed to immediately surrender all University property in their possession, including identity cards, and are barred from entering the campus. They were also informed of their right to appeal the decision to the University Council through their respective deans.

In addition, six students were rusticated for the 2025/2026 academic session. They are Idowu Oluwadamilola Owoade of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology; Quayum Damilare Aderibigbe and Faruq, both of the Department of Finance, Faculty of Management Sciences; Onimisi Abdulmajeed Aliyu of Quantity Surveying, Faculty of Environmental Sciences; Emmanuel Olayeni of Water Resources Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology; and Sulton Abidemi Salman of the Faculty of Agriculture.

The rusticated students were instructed to submit all University property and stay away from the campus until the 2026/2027 academic session. They are also required to present written evidence of rehabilitation from a recognised medical centre certified by the Director of University Health Services before resumption.

One other student, Isaac Chuks Okoh of the Department of Science Education, Faculty of Education, was issued a formal warning. The University cautioned that any further act of misconduct by the student would attract stiffer disciplinary measures and directed him to report to the Student Affairs Unit to complete the disciplinary process.

The University of Ilorin reiterated its commitment to maintaining discipline, upholding institutional regulations, and preserving a conducive academic environment for learning and character development.
