Tinubu appoints Bishop Kukah, others to lead Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced key appointments for the newly established Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, Kaduna State, with Bishop Matthew Kukah named as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council.

According to a statement released on Monday, Tinubu also appointed Prof. Qurix Williams Barnabas as the Vice-Chancellor, Sanusi Gambo Adamu as the Registrar, Ibrahim Dalhat as the Bursar, and Prof. Daniel Abubakar as the University Librarian.

Additionally, the President approved the appointments of Mr. Thomas Etuh (North Central), Chief Fabian Nwaora (South East), Prof. Femi Taiwo (South West), and Zarah Bukar (North East) as members of the university’s Governing Council.

The Federal University of Applied Sciences, formerly known as Nok University, was renamed following the federal government’s takeover of its assets. The institution is expected to admit its first set of students in September 2025.

Tinubu emphasized that the appointees were carefully selected based on their distinguished careers and leadership experience. He urged them to provide visionary leadership and ensure that the university becomes a hub for academic excellence and research, aligning with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The establishment of the university reflects the federal government’s commitment to expanding access to higher education and promoting technical and applied sciences to meet national development goals.
