Professor Segun Aina has officially assumed office as the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), succeeding Professor Ishaq Oloyede, whose second and final five-year tenure ended on 31 July 2026.

Aina took over the leadership of the examination body on Friday during a handover ceremony at JAMB’s headquarters in Bwari, Abuja.

President Bola Tinubu had appointed the Computer Engineering professor as the substantive Registrar of JAMB on 21 May 2026. At the time of his appointment, he was 39 years old and has now become the youngest person to serve as the Board’s Registrar.

In his inaugural address, Aina pledged to uphold the integrity of JAMB and strengthen its use of technology in combating examination malpractice.

He warned individuals involved in examination fraud to desist, declaring that “their business is in a wrong institution.”

The new registrar also assured stakeholders that the Board would continue to collaborate with security agencies to safeguard the credibility of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and other examinations conducted by JAMB.

Aina succeeds Professor Ishaq Oloyede, who led the examination body for a decade and was widely credited with implementing reforms that improved transparency, increased revenue remittances, and strengthened public confidence in JAMB’s operations.
