Mr Afeez Abdulrasak, a child psychologist and mental health practitioner has emphasised that professional diagnosis is essential to addressing learning disabilities.

Abdulrasak who is a PhD researcher at Oakland University, USA was a guest in the recent episode of the Education Podcast on Monday.

According to him, every child has a disability, and it is important to provide support and create an inclusive environment that could help a child overcome what is diagnosed as a learning disability.

He revealed that observation, communication, and identifying the child’s interests are key in diagnosing and assessing learning disabilities.

On the episode, he discussed learning disabilities among children, emphasizing the importance of early childhood education and the need for a supportive environment.

The conversation with him also covered the identification, assessment, and interventions for learning disabilities, as well as the role of educators and parents in supporting children with these challenges.
