Some past and present students of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) have called out a popular lecturer for habitually demanding sex in return for grades.

The embattled lecturer is Tony Asekhuno of the Department of Philosophy at UNIBEN.

An internet user had alleged on X (formerly known as Twitter) that Asekhuno raped her in his office while she was in her final year.

Her post reads, “Tony Asekhuno failed my logic deliberately 3 times until he raped me in his office in final year and gave me a C. I kept failing because I refused to date him”

After her revelation, other students who recognized the lecturer and had encounters him trooped out to share their experiences.

According to their tweets, the lecturer would fail his victims if they refused to date or get intimate with him and sometimes he would rape them.

Some of the students also claimed that the institution’s management was aware of his misconduct but ignored it.

While many internet users called on the appropriate authorities to investigate the situation, more victims kept coming out.

One of his victims wrote, “Shit! Philosophy Tony? Uniben Tony? That bastard told me to be grateful to God for my height else he would have had me and I was not even in his department and Okwe and Kola whose office I was in laughed at the joke When Okwe got down with a stroke, I knelt down in my room thanking God [sic]”
