MSS week to feature quiz, leadership seminar

A quiz competition and a leadership seminar are part of activities to mark this year’s MSS Week organised by the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) Kosofe Area Council.

In a statement signed by the Amir of the Area Council, Mr AbdulHafeez Animashaun and the Chairman, Organizing Committee of the Week for MSSN Kosofe, Mallam Abeeb Azeez, the MSS Week which has its theme as ‘Subulu-s-Salaam’ translated from Arabic as “Pathways to Peace”.

It began on Friday, 21st and ends on 29th March 2021 at designated locations within the area.

The statement noted that activities lined up for the 9-day programme include public lectures on contemporary issues, the Sisters’ Seminar and the Justice Sahid Schools’ Challenge.

The challenge is a quiz competition organised in honour of a founding father of MSSN, Rtd Justice A.R.A Sajid.

It involves both Junior Secondary School (JSS) and Senior Secondary School (SSS) categories.

The statement noted that, “JSS contestants will answer questions on Maths, English, IRS, Current Affairs and General Knowledge. For SS category, they would answer questions on Maths, English, IRS , Science, Arts and Commercial subjects.”

Other programmes lined up include the Leadership Seminar for Muslim school prefects and executives, Youth Conference, Inter Area Council Football Competition, Excursion to Shodex Garden, courtesy visits to school principals and Member representing Kosofe 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Ganiyu Okanlawon Sanni.

“We invite everyone, secondary school students, undergraduates and adults to all the activities of the week as they are carefully planned to address the concerns of every segment of the society,” it added.

Erudite personalities have been invited to share their knowledge and experiences such as Ustadh Imran Rufai, the Director, The Arabic Village; Ustadh Monsur Hassan, Chief Imam, MOPOL Barracks Mosque, Ogudu; Ustadh Sulaimon Dhikrullah, a motivational speaker, Prince Yisa Akanbi-Adeniji, Coordinator, NYCN Kosofe Chapter to mention a few.

“We however call on well meaning personalities to support our programme for a successful outing,” the statement added.

The MSS Week is an annual programme of Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, Lagos State Area Unit which holds across its 45 Area Councils. The programme is an avenue which MSSNLagos uses to showcase the beauty of Islam and reach out to the general public.
