The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has granted Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, Ogun State, an operational licence for its campus radio station, MAPOLY 99.7MHz.
The approval was confirmed in a letter addressed to the Rector of the institution, Dr. Koye Jolaoso, and signed by the NBC Secretary, Francisca Aiyetan, according to a statement issued by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Yemi Ajibola, on Friday.
The NBC noted that the licence approval followed the successful completion of the test transmission by the station in compliance with the provisions of the National Broadcasting Commission Act, Cap. N11, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, and the Nigeria Broadcasting Code.
Ajibola stated that the rector had been instrumental in the resuscitation of the campus radio, which will serve as a training platform for Mass Communication students at the 46-year-old institution.
“With this development, the agenda for a new MAPOLY is boosted as it will enhance Mass Communication training, equipping students with the necessary practical skills to ensure they are functional and competitive in the media industry upon graduation,” Ajibola added.
The approval marks a significant milestone in MAPOLY’s commitment to hands-on media training, reinforcing its position as a leading institution in communication and media studies in Nigeria.
