LAUTECH to get faculties of education, law, arts

Oyo State government has disclosed plans to create new faculties in Ogbomoso as part of moves to turn Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, (LAUTECH) into a conventional university.

This is is coming few days after the state govt approved the establishment of a Centre of Excellence in Energy Innovation, which will be situated on the campus.

The new faculties which includes, Faculty of Education, Arts, Law and others will replace the faculty of Agriculture that is being move to Iseyin.

There has been outraged over the plans by the government to make LAUTECH a multicampus institutions.

Although the people of Ogbomoso appreciates the move by Makinde’s admnistration to divorce from joint ownership from Osun but they don’t buy into the idea of multicampuses.

Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Olasunkanmi Olaleye and Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Oyo State, Oyelowo Oyewo on Saturday said plans are on top gear to replace the Faculty of Agriculture as well.

The duo spoke at the PDP stakeholders and leaders meeting in Ogbomoso zone held at the Lagbami Osekun Hall, Ogbomoso South local government on Saturday.

Olasunkanmi said the new faculties that will birth in Ogbomoso includes, Faculty of Law, Education, Arts, Social Science, Business among others.

He said the governor is not trying to collapse the economic activities in Ogbomosoland has he knew that LAUTECH is a major input into Ogbomoso economy rather he is planning of expanding Ogbomoso economy by turning the University into a full fledged conventional university noting that process has already began with the National Universities Commission (NUC).

He added that the governor who has priority in education has also completed all the uncompleted model schools in Ogbomoso.
