LAUTECH gets new VC, registrar, bursar

The Governing Council of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso has named a new Vice-Chancellor and two other other principal officers for the institution.

The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor is Michael Olufisayo Ologunde. He would be succeeding the incumbent VC, Professor Adeniyi Sulaiman Gbadegesin whose tenure elapses next February.

The Council also approved the appointment of Kayode Akindele Ogunleye as the incoming Registrar and Abayomi Abiodun Okediji as the new Bursar.

Their appointments would take effect from 14th February, 2019.

The Registrar of the institution, Mr Jacob Agboola disclosed this in a press statement made available to EduCeleb.com on Saturday.

He noted that Professor Ologunde is of the Department of Food Science and Engineering in the University.

Mr Agboola revealed that the approval of the appointments came from the Oyo State governor, Ishiaq Abiola Ajimobi, and his Osun State counterpart, Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola based on the Council’s recommendations.

Both Oyo State and Osun State own the University, making the duo visitors there.

Part of the statement reads thus, “The appointment was based on the recommendation of the Governing Council as approved by the Visitors to the University, His Excellency, Senator Ishiaq Abiola Ajimobi, the Executive Governor of Oyo State and His Excellency, Mr. Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola, the Executive Governor of the State of Osun.”

“In the same vein, the Governing Council at its 135th (Special ) meeting approved the appointment of Dr. Kayode Akindele OGUNLEYE as the new Registrar. The appointment takes effect from February 14, 2019 upon the expiration of the tenure of the incumbent Registrar, Mr. Jacob Adewale AGBOOLA on February 13, 2019.”

“The Governing Council also approved the appointment of Mr. Abayomi Abiodun OKEDIJI as the new Bursar. The effective date of the appointment is February 14, 2019 when he will take over from the Acting Bursar, Mr. Gabriel Adegbola Eegunranti.”

However, the Governing Council decided that the position of the University Librarian should be re-advertised and the process of appointing a new University Librarian should be concluded on or before January 25, 2019 for the new University Librarian to assume duty on February 14, 2019.

Agboola ended the statement with a message of goodwill from the Governing Council and Management wishing “the incoming Administration all the best while all hands should be on deck to move the University forward.”

EduCeleb.com reports that with the appointment of Professor Ologunde as Vice-Chancellor, he would be the first “home-based” Vice-Chancellor of the institution since its inception about three decades ago.

Prior to his appointment, all other Vice-Chancellors of LAUTECH were drawn from other schools.

The current VC, Gbadegesin is of the University of Ibadan while his predecessors, were either of the UI, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife or the University of Ilorin.
