Following the proposed resumption of tertiary institutions in Lagos State from 14th September, some online media platforms had claimed that the Lagos State University (LASU) would commence its first semester examination a week after.
The most viral of such reports attributed to the Vice-Chancellor of LASU, Olanrewaju Fagbohun suggested that the exams would start on 28th September.
But a rebuttal by the university authorities has shown that such was not true.
In a statement made available to EduCeleb.com, the Coordinator of the LASU Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations, Mr Ademola Adekoya who dismissed such claims described the report as “fake rumour”.
Schools across the country have been shut partly due to the COVID-19 pandemic since March aside the strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
The university urged the students and staff of the institution to disregard the claim of an exam date fixed.
The statement read in part that “Members of the University Community (staff and students) and the General Public are hereby informed that there is no iota of truth in the information as it did not emanate from the University and are advised to disregard such fake notices.
“The General Public is further advised to always cross-check any notice, credited to the Lagos State University, on its official website: www.lasu.edu.ng, or any of its official social media platforms for authenticity.”
