Lagos State University (LASU) has beaten University of Ibadan and other universities in an inter-varsity debate competition.
Represented by the LASU Debate Society, the students made their school proud on Saturday at the 8th Edition of the Clash of Sages competition, organised by the Literary and Debate Society, Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall, at the University of Ibadan.
EduCeleb.com gathered that the team, not only emerged the best institution but also produced the best speaker in the competition.
Other participating universities were the University of Abuja and Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, making LASU the only state university among them.
The LASU team was represented by Faith Uzuegbu and Ademola Ibrahim Lawal. Ms. Uzuegbu was awarded the “Best Speaker” for the competition.
This feat is coming barely a month after another LASU contingent was awarded the best in the Nigerian Tertiary Institution Model United Nations (NITMUN) besides going home with eleven other prizes at the individual level.
The duo who won the debate on behalf LASU equally won individual prizes at the NITMUN in December. While Ms Uzuegbu got awarded best for her participation in the Human Rights Council (HRC), Mr Lawal went home with the top prize for his role in the NITMUN committee on the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
