The management of the Nigeria French Language Village (NFLV), Badagry, on Wednesday, 7 January 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, at the University’s Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos. The meeting was held at the Conference Room of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, 6th Floor, Senate Building.
The NFLV delegation was led by its Director and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Samuel Oladipo Kolawole, who said the visit was aimed at further strengthening collaboration and mutual understanding between the two institutions. He commended the LASU management for its longstanding support, particularly for facilitating the promotion of seven NFLV staff members to the professional cadre. Professor Kolawole also described LASU as home to one of the best French Departments in Nigeria.
Discussions during the meeting focused on the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between LASU and the NFLV, following the expiration of the previous agreement. Both institutions explored ways of deepening academic and institutional cooperation to enhance teaching, research and staff development.
In her response, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello warmly welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed LASU’s commitment to sustaining and strengthening its partnership with the Nigeria French Language Village. She assured the visitors of the University’s readiness to renew the Memorandum of Understanding and expressed confidence that continued collaboration would foster greater productivity and academic growth for both institutions.
The visit concluded with an exchange of gifts between the two institutions, symbolising goodwill and sustained partnership.

Fanu; the representative of the University Bursar, Mr Jerry Jinadu; the University Librarian, Mrs Omawunmi Makinde; and the Dean, Faculty of Arts, Professor Ayo Ayodele. Also present were the Director, Directorate of Legal Affairs, Mrs O. O. Boyejo; the Deputy Registrar, Academic Staff Establishment, Mr Abdulhameed Lawal; the Deputy Registrar, Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Dr Lateef Sekoni; and the Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor, Dr Lateef Salami.
