The Lagos State government has appointed an acting rector at the Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu.
His name is Olumide Metillelu.
A statement issued by the Head of Public Affairs at the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Ms Yejide Omolase on Saturday conveyed this development.
The statement noted that Mr Metillelu would be replacing Mr Samuel Sogunro whose tenure as rector expires on Sunday, 31st May.
The statement added that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu granted the approval for Metillelu to serve in acting capacity for a period of three months.

Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State has approved the appointment of Mr. METILLELU, Olumide Olusola as the Acting Rector of the Lagos State Polytechnic foa period of Three (3) months effective 1st June, 2020.
The appointment is sequel to the expiration of the 5-year tenure of Mr. SOGUNRO, Samuel Oluyinka as the Rector of the Institution on 31st May, 2020.
The process for the appointment of a substantive Rector for the institution is ongoing by the office of the Special Adviser on Education, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, with the screening and clearance of 17 out of the 25 applicants for the post of the Rector.
Mr. METILLELU, Olumide Olusola, prior to the appointment, was the Deputy Rector (Academics) of the institution.
