JAMB releases guidelines, dates for 2025 UTME

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the commencement of the registration process for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the national entrance examination for tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

Key Dates for 2025 UTME

  • Registration Period: Wednesday, January 15 – Wednesday, February 26, 2025
  • Mock Examination: Friday, March 7, 2025
  • Mock Slip Reprinting: Thursday, April 10, 2025
  • Main UTME Examination: Friday, April 18 – Sunday, April 28, 2025
  • Result Release Date: Wednesday, April 30, 2025

Registration Guidelines and Requirements

Prospective candidates must meet the following criteria to register for the UTME:

  1. National Identification Number (NIN):
    • Candidates must possess an 11-digit NIN obtained from any NIMC enrollment centre or via the NIMC mobile app. This is essential for creating a JAMB profile.
  2. JAMB Profile Code:
    • A 10-digit code sent after texting your NIN to 55019 or 66019 will be required for registration.
  3. Valid Phone Number:
    • Candidates must provide the same phone number throughout the registration and exam period to receive updates from JAMB.
  4. Functional Email Address:
    • An email address is required to create a profile and access registration details.
  5. Academic Results:
    • Candidates must present valid A’level or O’level results (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or GCE). Awaiting results are accepted but must be uploaded to the JAMB portal before admission.
  6. ePIN for Registration:
    • Purchase an ePIN for N3,500 from authorized outlets like banks, online platforms, or through USSD codes. Additional fees include:
      • N700 for registration
      • N1,500 for the main UTME
      • N1,500 for the optional Mock-UTME (if applicable)
  7. Personal Information:
    • Submit details such as name, date of birth, gender, state of origin, and a passport photograph. Biometric verification and signature are also required.

Cost Breakdown

  • Main Examination: ₦5,200
  • Including Mock-UTME: ₦6,700

Registration Steps

  1. Visit the JAMB portal at www.jamb.gov.ng and create a profile using your NIN, email address, and phone number.
  2. Verify your profile with the confirmation code sent via SMS and email.
  3. Purchase an ePIN from authorized channels.
  4. Proceed to a JAMB-approved Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre with your documents, including O’level results and passport photograph.
  5. Complete the registration form, select your exam date and centre, and undergo biometric verification.
  6. Print your registration slip, which includes your details, exam schedule, and centre.

JAMB will provide candidates with a CD containing the syllabus and e-brochure to aid study preparations.

Emphasis on Examination Dates

  • The mock examination is scheduled for March 7, 2025, while the main UTME runs from April 18 to April 28, 2025. Candidates are advised to take note of these dates to ensure timely preparations.
