The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has concluded the registration process for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), recording an unprecedented 2,030,627 candidates. This marks the highest number of applicants in the board’s history.
The registration, which commenced on February 3 and concluded on March 8, 2025, saw a significant increase from the previous year’s 1.9 million applicants. Notably, 41,026 of the registered candidates are below the age of 16, indicating a growing trend of younger students seeking tertiary education.
Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, confirmed these figures, stating that the upcoming UTME is scheduled to begin on April 25, 2025, across more than 700 computer-based test centres nationwide.
In preparation for the main examination, JAMB has organized an optional mock test set for April 5, 2025, with 200,115 candidates expressing interest in participating. This initiative aims to familiarize candidates with the computer-based testing environment.
To uphold the integrity of the examination process, JAMB has implemented several innovative measures to deter cheating. These efforts have already led to multiple arrests of candidates attempting to use forged A-level results for admission, highlighting the effectiveness of the new system designed to detect such fraud.
Candidates are strongly advised to adhere to the examination rules and regulations and refrain from any dishonest practices during the examination.
For further information, candidates are encouraged to visit the official JAMB website or contact the nearest JAMB office.
