The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has slated Saturday, 23rd March, 2019 for the conduct of the 2019 Mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) exercise.

JAMB’s Head, Public Affairs, Dr Fabian Benjamin, who made this known in a statement on Monday, urged candidates to begin the printing of their Mock Examination Notification slips from Wednesday 6 March 2019.

EduCeleb.com recalls that JAMB introduced the Mock UTME in 2017 in order to give candidates the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the conduct of Computer Based Test.

This had been particularly helpful to candidates who are not conversant with the use of computers.

Mr Benjamin said the examination body was using it to make every candidate have equal chances of succeeding at the main UTME.

“The Board would not want any candidate to be at a disadvantage position, hence the introduction of mock examination and other processes that would help the candidates during examination.”

The Board equally introduced the nine (9) keys without a mouse for candidates to use the computer with ease. These keys which are on every computer keyboard are easier to use by merely pressing them appropriately.

The JAMB spokesperson added that the mock exam allows the body to ascertain the readiness of the system ahead of the main exam.

“The Board also uses the mock exercise to ascertain the readiness of its system and to appraise the candidates’ preparedness for the main examination.”

Meanwhile, whatever a candidate scores in the mock exam has no effect on the main UTME as scores would not be added to what is obtained in the main examination.

Mr Benjamin said mock “would not be used for any assessment process.”

The Board also enjoined all candidates to jealously guard all their details pertaining to the 2019 UTME and Direct Entry registration.
