The recent training workshop on writing grant-winning Concept Notes and Proposals at Sa’adu Zungur University is poised to significantly enhance the university’s research capabilities, according to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Fatimah Tahir.
The workshop, which was organized by the Centre of Excellence for Research and Innovation (CERI), focused on equipping academic staff with the skills necessary to secure grants, a key factor in driving research growth and development.
Tahir emphasised that the ability to write successful grant proposals is crucial for advancing the university’s research agenda.
She pointed out that understanding the specific requirements of various grants is essential for accessing the funds needed to support impactful research projects.
“Each grant has its requirements. If you don’t understand the requirements of any grant, you would not be able to access it,” she explained.
The Vice Chancellor underscored the potential impact of the training on the university’s research output, noting that universities increasingly measure their success by the number of research awards and grants they secure.
“This workshop is important, and I implore you to be attentive. Participate actively and let your contribution be recognized,” she urged the participants.
By enhancing the grant-writing skills of its academic staff, Sa’adu Zungur University aims to strengthen its position in the competitive landscape of academic research, ensuring that its scholars are well-prepared to contribute to significant advancements in their fields.
Prof Tahir also expressed appreciation to CERI for partnering with the university in delivering this vital training, which is expected to have a lasting impact on the university’s research capacity.
Sa’adu Zungur University, formerly Bauchi State University, is located in Gadau, with additional campuses in Misau and Bauchi.
