The hope for the safe reopening of schools nationwide despite the COVID-19 pandemic was rekindled on Wednesday, 23rd September, as the representatives of the Federal Ministry of Education met with all the seven governors from the northwest region of Nigeria.

The meeting, which was held in Kano state, was channeled towards the prompt adoption of the already developed federal government’s template for the safe reopening of schools.

Speaking during the meeting, minister of state for education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, said the templates required full engagement of all stakeholders for successful implementation.

The minister further stated that the template of the federal government also shared some key roles and responsibilities for the stakeholders at the national, state, LGA and school levels.

Ministry of state for education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, said FG has fashioned out a perfect template for reopening.

Speaking after the meeting in a statement released by his chief press secretary Hassan Musa Fagge, the Kano deputy governor commended the federal government led by President Muhammadu Buhari for putting various measures in place towards school reopening.

Gawuna said the Ganduje-led Kano government has also released N880 million for the renovation of some schools across the state.
