ABSU new VC sues for unions’ support

The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Abia State University (ABSU), Maxwell Ogbulu, has solicited the supports of the Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff of the university, ASUU, SSANU, NASU & NAT, Student Union Government (SUG) in ensuring the smooth sail of academic activities in the varsity.

Professor Ogbulu who made the appeal upon assumption of office on Tuesday at the university campus in Uturu promised to sustain the change mantra instilled by the outgone Vice-Chancellor, Professor Uche Ikonne.

The new ABSU Vice-Chancellor further commended Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for showing probity in finding him more eminently qualified this time out of the three candidates presented to him.

EduCeleb.com recalls that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State had approved the appointment of Professor Onyemachi Maxwell Ogbulu as the new Vice-Chancellor of Abia State University with effect from the 1st of December, 2020.

Ogbulu becomes the 8th substantive Vice-Chancellor of the university since inception.

The appointment was contained in a release signed by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Barrister Chris Ezem and made available to newsmen, in Umuahia.

Speaking further, Professor Ogbulu described the office of the VC as one wearing a “very deep big shoe” unlike the predecessor, who described the office as a “big shoe one wears”.

The new Vice-Chancellor during his inaugural speech pronounced a scholarship award to a pupil of Abia State University Primary School from Primary to Secondary level.
