The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has extended the registration deadline for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, First Series.
Initially scheduled to close on Monday, January 6, 2025, the deadline for generating Personal Identification Numbers (PINs) has now been extended to Monday, January 20, 2025.
WAEC, through a statement shared on its official X account, announced that this extension aims to provide additional time for intending candidates to complete their registration.
According to the council, candidates must also finalise their biometric capture and complete their online registration by 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
The statement reads:
“WASSCE For Private Candidates 2025, FIRST SERIES Normal Registration is ongoing. The closing date for Generation of PIN is Monday, January 20, 2025. Intending candidates are to finish their biometrics capturing and online registration by 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.”
The WASSCE for Private Candidates, commonly referred to as the General Certificate Examination (GCE), provides an opportunity for individuals to register and sit for the examination independently, outside the conventional school system.
Candidates are advised to take advantage of the extended deadline to ensure successful registration.
