A nude video of a lecturer at the Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado Ekiti has emerged online raising an alleged sex for marks scandal.
In the 29-second video clip which went viral on social media over the weekend, the lecturer identified as Dr Olu Aduwo was dragged out of a room by some female students who were believed to have laid siege on the residence of one of them with whom he may have been having an affair.
A voice was heard saying in the background that “he wants to have sex with a student.”
Aduwo could also be heard screaming and begging the students as young men believed to be students joined in physically assaulting him with an electronic object.
Sources claimed that the lecturer was of the habit of intimidating female students, abusing and taking undue advantage of ladies.
In its reaction to the incident, EKSU management said it was investigating the alleged sexual misconduct against the Department of Accounting lecturer.
Head, Directorate of Information and Corporate Affairs of the institution, Mr Bode Olofinmuagun in a response to EduCeleb.com said the lecturer had been issued a query.
“Query has been issued to the accused lecturer, to state his own side of the story,” he said.
“This will be followed by a panel which would to dig deep into the matter,” he said.
Olofinmuagun noted that the university would not condone any act of sexual harassment in the University.
He said the issuance of the query was in order for “the concerned lecturer to defend himself of the allegation as a first step in the spirit of due process.”
“Thereafter, a panel of investigation will be constituted to get to the root of the matter, while the findings of the panel will be made public.”
“The general public is hereby assured that management will continue to be transparent and will not allow such a matter that could smear its good image to be swept under the carpet.”
EduCeleb.com recalls that a lecturer at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ilé-Ifẹ̀, Professor Richard Akindele was jailed last November after he was found guilty of demanding sex for grades from a former student, Monica Osagie.
Investigations into the case of another lecturer at the University of Lagos, Professor Segun Awonusi had however remained stalled as the management said it could not conclude without the former student who leaked his nude photos, Joy Nwana coming to substantiate the claim made in April 2018.
