A new Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aliyu Shugaba has on Monday, 3rd June resumed office at the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID).
He took over from Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi whose tenure just ended and would be heading the university for the next five years.
EduCeleb.com earlier reported that the immediate past Vice-Chancellor would now be proceeding to the Gombe State Government House where he had been appointed Secretary to the State Government.
Njodi thanked the entire University of Maiduguri community for their unalloyed support and cooperation during his stay in office and urged them to extend the hand of fellowship to his successor.
The new VC, Shugaba in his remark expressed zeal and commitment to continue from where his immediate predecessor stopped in taking the University to a greater heights of infrastructural and academic excellence.
He is a professor of Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology at the university.
EduCeleb.com recalls that Shugaba who is the immediate past Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) in the university, beat 14 other contestants to emerge the VC back in April.
A brief handing over ceremony held on Monday was well attended by Members of the Governing Council, Members of Senate of the University, Students and Staff. It took place at the Senate Chamber of the Muhammadu Buhari Senate building of the University.
