NSUK, Nasarawa federal polytechnic sign MoU on postgraduate studies

The Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) and the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa have signed a memorandum of understanding as part of steps towards expanding access to tertiary education.

Representatives of both institutions converged on the main campus of NSUK in Keffi on Monday to conduct the signing.

The Vice Chancellor of the Nasarawa State University Keffi, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed in his welcome address described the occasion as a very historic one because the consummation of the agreement and practical backing will expand access to education.

The agreement, according to him, will see the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa in affiliation with the Nasarawa State University run Postgraduate Diplomas, while the Nasarawa State University in affiliation with the Polytechnic will run Diploma Programmes which is the core mandate of polytechnics.

He further informed the audience that facilities at the Pyanku Campus, which will house the programmes are being rehabilitated and renovated to ensure a conducive learning environment for students.

He added that the Memorandum of Understanding will extend to other areas of Academic interests.

He described the actions of the Rector as patriotic, commendable and historic.

In his response the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, Dr Abdullahi Alhassan Ahmed described the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with the fastest growing University in Nigeria as one of his best achievements since his assumption of office.

He promised to deliver on the mandate and success of the Memorandum of Understanding.
