The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results for the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External, which was conducted between November 14 and December 14, 2024.
Announcing the results at a press conference held at NECO’s headquarters in Minna on Friday, the Registrar and Chief Executive, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, disclosed that 86,067 candidates registered, while 84,799 sat for the examination.
Key Statistics
- 57,114 candidates (67.35%) obtained five credits and above, including English and Mathematics.
- 70,711 candidates (83.39%) secured five credits and above, irrespective of English and Mathematics.
- English Language: 83,220 candidates sat, with 62,929 (75.62%) obtaining credit and above.
- Mathematics: 83,024 candidates sat, with 77,988 (93.93%) obtaining credit and above.
Drop in Malpractice Cases
Prof. Wushishi noted a 27.7% reduction in examination malpractice cases, with 6,160 candidates involved compared to 8,518 cases in 2023. He added that some supervisors and centres have been recommended for blacklisting.

The NECO boss thanked the Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, and the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, for their support in ensuring the smooth conduct of the examination.
