Nasarawa govt commits to supporting NSUK

Nasarawa State Government has restated its commitment to ensuring that the State owned University continues to break new grounds to become the envisioned world class citadel.

The Secretary to the State Government, Aliyu Tijani Ahmed, stated this on Wednesday 31st July, 2019 when he received management of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi who paid him a congratulatory visit in Lafia, the state capital.

He said the Abdullahi Sule led administration considers the University as very pivotal to the development of the state, hence it will continue to support the growth and development of the University.

Alh. Ahmed further stated that the state government is “very pleased” with the sagacity of the present management of the University and thanked the Vice Chancellor and his team for their exceptional services.

The Chief Scribe of the State who described the visit as a “family reunion”, pledged to continue to be a worthy ambassador for the University.

“I’ll always consider myself as part and parcel of the University. We’ve sacrificed a lot for the institution and we’ll not allow that to go in vain”, he promised.

While thanking the University leadership for the visit, he further charged management to continue on the path of financial discipline, innovative leadership, accountability and adherence to rule of law.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation and Vice Chancellor, Prof. Suleiman Bala Mohammed, on behalf of the Governing Council, Senate, Staff and Students of the University congratulated the SSG for the appointment, saying his wealth of experience spanning through the academia and politics positions him very well for the responsibilities of the high office.

“You’ve discharged your previous responsibilities very well and we’re pleased with you.

“Your appointment is our appointment. You’re a good ambassador of the University and on behalf of entire members of Council, Management, Staff and Students, I wish you a successful tenure”, the Vice Chancellor said.

Before venturing into active politics, Aliyu Tijani was a Principal Assistant Registrar at the Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
