Nasarawa State governor, Abdullahi Sule has sacked the Secretary to the State Government, Aliyu Ahmed-Tijani over alleged incompetence and misappropriation of public funds.

The sack is based on the recommendation of the State House of Assembly, which has in the past four months investigated Mr Ahmed-Tijani who is the immediate past Commissioner for Education in the state.

The state’s parliament ad-hoc committee specifically investigated the utilisation of the N1bn released for the renovation/fencing of public secondary schools in the state in 2018 found him culpable for misappropriation of the funds.

Following the indictment, the state legislators asked Ahmed-Tijani to refund over N248.5m unaccounted funds to the state government.

The house said the former commissioner displayed blatant inefficiency, incompetency, and ineffectiveness in the performance of his official duties and urged the governor to sack him.

Permanent Secretary to the state government, Hamza Gayam, in a statement on Monday asked Ahmed-Tijani to immediately handover all government property in his possession to the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs, Muazu Adamu-Gosho.
