Undergraduate students at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) have been directed to pay reparation fee due to the students’ riots of April 22 and 23, 2021.
A statement from the university said that a decision was reached on this by the university’s senate.
“Senate at its emergency meeting of Tuesday, June 22, 2021, deliberated extensively on the report of the Investigation Panel on students’ riots of April 22 and 23, 2021 and decided that all regular undergraduate students from 100 to 600-Level during the 2019/2020 academic session should pay a reparation fee of Five Thousand Naira (N5,000.00) only each as a result of the destruction of property in LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, University Health Centre and the University in general,” the statement read.
It added that the payment was also to serve as a deterrent against a future occurrence of such violent behaviour by LAUTECH students.
The payment for the graduating students is to be done through the University website using the link: https://www.lautech.edu.ng/payments/ by selecting “Damage Fee” under “Payment Item” while other students will pay through their individual school portals. For information on Press Releases, Photos, Promotional Events and Adverts, Please Call or Send a Text to 09052129258, 08124662170 or send an email to: firstname.lastname@example.org
