The management of the Lagos State University on Wednesday, 27th March, 2019 inaugurated new leaders of its Students’ Union.

These student leaders had in the penultimate week held elections across the faculties and campuses of the University to choose their leaders for the 2018/2019 academic session.

These set of leaders constitute the university’s 29th Students’ Union.

Students had converged on the LASU Main Auditorium on its main campus in Ọjọ́ to witness the event.

EduCeleb.com gathered that the new leaders were drawn from the three campuses of the university to ensure credible representation of all.

Apart from the main campus at Ọjọ́, LASU has campuses at Ikeja for the College of Medicine and at Epe for its Faculty of Engineering.

The 29th President of the Lagos State University Students’ Union (LASUSU), Oluwatayo Olawale in his acceptance speech stated his four-point agenda to include Students’ Welfare, Academics, Innovations and Entrepreneurship, and Socials.

Mr Olawale, while appreciating fellow students, promised the gathering that his administration will be an all-inclusive one.

He pledged to always be ready to listen to the yearnings and suggestions of all students, adding that his colleagues must be of good conduct being ambassadors of the institution.

“I will admonish you to be good ambassadors of this great citadel of learning for the world has changed, our nation has changed, our citadel of learning has changed and we must change with it,” he said.

He urged all the executive members and other functionaries of the Students’ Union to be ready to serve responsibly and avoid selfishness.

He also said that the 29th LASUSU would be open to support from bodies in both the public and private sectors.

“I want to appeal to them to concentrate on the development of this Union. I want the sectors to kindly help in funding our Union and create a safe haven for internship.”

The new LASUSU President announced the immediate commencement of work under his administration with the introduction of table water to be branded in the LASUSU name.

“To kick start my administration, in the next 48hours, we will introduce LASUSU Mini and Mega Table Water still packaged as La Vaser water currently, but, to be packaged as LASUSU TABLE WATER soonest,” he said.

The LASUSU Mini Table Water (50cl), according to him, will be sold for N30, while the LASUSU Mega Table Water (75cl) will go for Forty N40.

LASU Vice Chancellor; Professor ‘Lanre Fagbohun, had earlier congratulated the 29th LASUSU Leaders and urged them to serve with the fear of God, be transparent and accountable to the students and the University Community as a whole.

Represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Professor Oyedamola Oke, he charged the fresh officers of the Students’ Union to justify the confidence reposed in them by their colleagues.
