Maryam Abiodun Lawal, a graduate of Lagos State University (LASU), has emerged as the Best Graduating Female Student and the Second Overall Best Graduating Student at the 2025 Call to Bar ceremony of the Nigerian Law School, held on Thursday, July 10, in Abuja.

Maryam, who studied both Common and Islamic Law at LASU’s Faculty of Law, distinguished herself from a cohort of 7,134 students called to the Nigerian Bar this year. Her stellar academic performance places her among the most outstanding legal minds produced by the country’s legal education system.

The Vice-Chancellor of LASU, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, was represented at the ceremony by the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Professor Kareem Olatoye. While celebrating Maryam’s exceptional feat, Professor Olatoye described her as a true ambassador of the university and a testament to the academic excellence upheld by the institution.

Speaking on the achievement, Professor Olatunji-Bello congratulated Maryam and expressed profound pride in her success. She also commended the entire Faculty of Law for their role in producing such a brilliant graduate.

“This outstanding accomplishment reflects the quality of legal education and mentorship provided at LASU,” she noted. “It reaffirms our mission of producing graduates who are not only academically sound but also globally competitive.”
