LASU Dean of Science, Professor Oluwole Omikorede dies

The Dean, Faculty of Science at the Lagos State University, Professor Oluwole Ebenezer Omikorede,  is dead. 

According to a press statement issued by the LASU Spokesman, Ademola Adekoya, Professor Omikorede was still at work on Wednesday, November 1st before he died later at night at Igando General Hospital where he was rushed to for treatment.

According to the statement, “Omikorede was his vibrant and lively self all through the day, attending to his official assignments and being involved in various meetings in the University up until Wednesday evening, before his sudden death.” 

The University Management described the news of his death as  “very shocking” and “a monumental loss to the University community.”

His Profile

Professor Oluwole Ebenezer Omikorede was born on the 20th of July, 1953 at Ilesha, Old Oyo State. He was an alumnus of the University of Lagos, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and the University of Ashton, Birmingham.

He joined the services of the Lagos State University on 1st November, 1985. Until his death, he was a specialist in Polymar Stabilisation and Natural Products. He had authored several academic works both in local and international books journals. He is survived by his family.
