A Nigerian student has gone viral on social media after expressing shock and disappointment over her 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result, in which she scored 155 despite what she described as months of intense preparation.
In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @chukwe, the young candidate recounted how she diligently studied over 25 sets of past questions and excelled in her mock exams, only to receive what she called a “ridiculous” result.
“This year I wrote JAMB, I came prepared. I studied over 25 past questions only to wake up this morning and see a ridiculous result,” she lamented. “In all the JAMB and mock exams I’ve written, I’ve never scored less than 250. It’s shocking that JAMB gave me 155.”
The visibly upset candidate added that this was not her first attempt at the exam. She scored excellently last year but was unable to gain admission due to unforeseen circumstances. Determined to secure admission in 2025, she had doubled down on her preparations.
Her father also appeared in the video, voicing support for his daughter and raising concerns about possible irregularities at the CBT centre where she wrote the exam.
The video has since sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many Nigerians sympathising with the candidate and calling for greater transparency in the UTME result verification process.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is yet to officially respond to the incident. However, the exam body recently reiterated its commitment to eliminating malpractice and ensuring the credibility of UTME results, which it says are generated directly from its central database.
