The Federal Ministry of Education has announced the transfer of two Pro-Chancellors as part of its renewed effort to strengthen governance, fairness, and transparency in Nigerian universities.
According to a statement by the ministry’s spokesperson, Folasade Boriowo, on Monday, the move is part of ongoing reforms aimed at improving university administration and ensuring a more conducive learning environment for students nationwide.
Retired Colonel Abdulmuminu Aminu, previously the Pro-Chancellor of Federal University Dutsin-Ma, has been reassigned to the Federal University Kebbi. Similarly, Ali Abubakar Jatau of Federal University Birnin Kebbi will now serve as the Pro-Chancellor of Federal University Dutsin-Ma.
Quoting the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, the statement said: “The ongoing reforms in the education system are focused on ensuring fairness, transparency, and high-level governance across all our universities, ensuring that our children receive the right education in the most conducive environment.”
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to a merit-based system in appointing university principal officers, adding that the transfers take immediate effect.
Dr. Alausa thanked the outgoing Pro-Chancellors for their dedicated service and expressed optimism that the reshuffle will further contribute to the development of Nigeria’s tertiary education sector.
“Our goal remains to build a stronger, transparent, and merit-driven university system that works for all Nigerians,” the statement concluded.
