The Federal University Gusau, on Wednesday matriculated 1,455 new students for the 2019/2020 academic session.

It warned that it would not tolerate gangsterism, indiscipline, sexual harassment, and other vices.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Muazu Abubakar, gave the warning at the matriculation of the students.

He said that any student caught in such acts would have himself or herself to blame.

“I wish to remind you that one of the fundamental purposes of university education is nation-building.

“To be active contributors to the achievement of this national objective, you must shun bigotry, violence, ethnicity, political intolerance, and religious prejudice,” he added.

Abubukar said that 70 percent of the students would study science courses.

According to the vice-chancellor, 709 students were admitted into the faculty of science.

He said that 384 students were for the faculty of management and social sciences, 126 for humanities and 236 for education.

He urged the students to be guided by the school’s handbook to enable them to be found worthy in character and learning.

EduCeleb.com reports that the matriculation was the sixth since the establishment of the institution in 2013.
