A new media platform, DevReporting, has been launched to reshape development journalism in Nigeria and Africa, with a commitment to in-depth reporting on key societal issues.

According to a statement signed by the organisation’s Administration and Finance Control Manager, Omobayo Azeez, DevReporting is an initiative of Development Reporting Services Limited, headquartered in Lagos. The platform aims to promote informed discourse, balanced reporting, and impactful analysis of development-related issues across the continent.

To drive this vision, Mojeed Alabi, former Development Editor at PREMIUM TIMES, has been appointed Team Lead/Editor-in-Chief, while Christiana Alabi-Akande, a former correspondent at Daily Trust Newspaper, will serve as Managing Editor.

A New Approach to Development Journalism

DevReporting seeks to challenge the status quo by pioneering four major projectsDevCinema, DevCheck, DevCast, and DevStats—which will focus on exclusive reports, investigative journalism, and data-driven analysis on education, health, humanitarian issues, and governance.

“The details of these initiatives will be made public in the coming days, but Nigerians and Africans should be prepared to witness firsthand rich exclusives, analysis, and investigations on development issues and how they affect the people,” the statement noted.

Highlighting the rationale behind DevReporting, the platform stated that journalism must evolve in response to societal changes. While the press played a pivotal role during colonial struggles and military rule, the current focus must be on poor leadership, corruption, and underdevelopment. “That is the vacuum DevReporting has come to fill,” it added.
