As the lockdown to reduce the spread of COVID-19 pandemic persists, the Edo State University, Iyamho has revealed that its second semester for the 2019/2020 academic session would commence online.

It said it would be using the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) and the University’s Academic Information Systems (AIS) for the students to learn.

A statement by the university”s Registrar, Dr Isoken Ogboro, stated that the students’ courses registration would commence on Monday, 27th April, 2020, through the AIS/LMS platform while the second-semester academic lectures would also start on Monday, 4th May, 2020.

The statement further advised all the students to visit the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) and the University’s Academic Information Systems (AIS) platform to start the above academic activities as stipulated.

Edo University Iyamho was the first Nigerian universities to introduce the Canvas Learning Management System in Nigeria and the recently introduced Academic Information systems in the university to monitor, evaluate and access the students activities by both the management and the parents.

Recall that Lagos State University (LASU), the Kaduna State University (KASU), the First Technical University Ibadan, the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro and the Adeyemi College of Education (ACE) are among Nigerian tertiary institutions that had earlier introduced online classes to continue their semesters as the uncertainty of normalcy being restored soon continues.
